TANGENT
1.
The sound of the
river
muffles the buzzing of a bee
in the little flowers on the other
bank.
Shade at noon in the banana plantation,
bananas still
green.
A child walks ahead of us, barefoot,
distracted, picking little white
flowers
that grow in the sharp
grass.
Ripe bananas in the
market
and white flowers for a
bouquet.
2.
A ring glistens on the
hand
holding the flowers. It holds them
at ease. A leaf falls.
The table is set: honey, milk,
cereal
and bananas. White flowers in
water.
Through the window
we see the room opposite
ours,
a child asleep.
It's noon, the sky is
clear.
Our building in the shade of
another.
3.
A pendulum above an old
chair.
We turn the lights off, lock the door.
A window left
opened.
Twilight whitens the flowers.
We walk faster on the
streets.
The facades of the buildings begin
to loose contrast. A curve to the
left:
we've taken this way
before.
At night, the streets are
alike.
The river runs into sharp
grass.
4.
At the entrance, a stranger
behind glass is looking at his
wrist.
He doesn't see us walk by.
The table to be cleaned: cereal,
banana peels and bread crumbs.
The flowers will soon begin to
wilt.
From the room opposite
ours,
a child watches
us.
Clouds over the banana
plantation.
Rain over the
city.
